What common bedroom measurements look like
Centimetres are easier to picture when you compare them with objects you already know. Use these examples to estimate scale, then replace every placeholder in the planner with the actual dimensions of your furniture.

These are familiar scale references, not fixed standards. Desks, suitcases, bicycles, chairs and bed frames vary, so measure the exact item before buying.
Singapore mattress footprints compared
Every standard size below is 190cm long, so the main room-fit difference is width. The floor area shows only the mattress rectangle. A bed frame, headboard or storage platform usually needs more space.

How to copy your HDB floor plan into the planner
Start with the floor plan for your own unit instead of relying on a typical HDB bedroom size. Rooms can differ because of the flat type, project layout, structural columns and recessed corners.

Get the correct floor plan
Use the plan for your exact block and unit. HDB states that purchased residential floor plans are supplied on A4 at a 1:100 scale.

Print it without resizing
Choose Actual Size in the print settings. Options such as Fit to Page can change the scale and make measurements unreliable.

Enter the main room dimensions
Use the Width and Depth fields in the planner, then select Apply dimensions. Follow the measurements printed on the plan rather than measuring the screen.

Match the room shape
Drag the red room corners to represent recessed walls, structural columns or an irregular layout. Add more allowance if the plan does not show skirting or wall finishes clearly.

Add the obstacles that affect furniture
Place the bedroom door, wardrobe, desk and bed. Check door swings, drawer openings, sockets, windows and the route used to enter the room.

Replace every placeholder with a real measurement
Measure the outside of the bed frame and furniture before ordering. The mattress label alone does not include headboards, side rails or storage drawers.
No floor plan? Measure every wall with a tape measure or laser measure. Record the door width, door-swing direction, columns and recessed sections before entering the room size.

Start with the room measurements rather than the advertised floor area. Measure each wall, then mark windows, structural columns, sockets and any corners that cannot be used. Add the door at its real width and test the full door swing. A layout can look spacious on paper but fail when the bedroom door, wardrobe door or drawers need to open at the same time.
Place the largest fixed item first, usually the bed or wardrobe. Use the outside dimensions of the bed frame, not only the mattress dimensions, because headboards, side rails and storage bases add to the footprint. Next, leave a practical walking path from the door to the bed and wardrobe. Check that you can stand beside the bed, change the sheets and reach storage without moving another item.
Test several arrangements in the planner before committing. A desk may work better beside a window, while a wardrobe often needs a clear zone in front of it. Also consider delivery access: measure the lift, corridor turns, unit entrance and bedroom doorway for the mattress and bed-frame components you intend to order.
Check mattress size before you buy
Singapore mattress labels do not tell you the complete installed size. Confirm the mattress measurements with the retailer, then add the frame, headboard and any bedside furniture to the planner. Leave enough clearance for the bedroom door, wardrobe panels and a comfortable route around the bed. If the frame has drawers or a lift-up base, model the space needed to use them. Bedroom layout planner questions
How can I picture bedroom measurements in centimetres?
Compare them with familiar objects: an A4 sheet is 29.7 centimetres long, a compact desk is often around 120 by 60 centimetres, a compact office-chair movement zone can start around 90 by 90 centimetres, and an adult-bicycle placeholder can start around 180 by 60 centimetres. These are visual references, not universal product sizes.
How much walking space should I leave around a bed?
Use 60 centimetres as a rough workable planning check where possible, then test the actual door, wardrobe, drawer and cleaning access. More space may be needed for mobility needs, storage beds or furniture that opens into the route.
Should I enter the mattress size or bed-frame size?
Enter the outside bed-frame dimensions whenever they are available. Headboards, side rails, platforms and storage drawers can make the installed footprint larger than the mattress label.
Can I use an HDB floor plan in the bedroom planner?
Yes. Use the dimensions printed on your exact unit plan rather than relying on a typical room estimate. HDB states that purchased residential floor plans are supplied at 1:100 scale on A4 and should be printed at Actual Size to preserve that scale.
Can I save or share my bedroom layout?
Yes. Save stores the current layout in the browser on that device. Copy share link creates a URL containing the room shape and furniture arrangement, which another person can open without an account. Avoid placing private information in furniture labels or shared links.
How do snapping, undo and redo work?
Snapping helps align dragged furniture with the room, nearby furniture and a 10-centimetre planning grid. Turn it off when you need unrestricted placement. Use the Undo and Redo buttons or common keyboard shortcuts to reverse and restore editing steps.
What is the difference between the three 3D views?
Dollhouse gives an overall angled view, Top shows the room from above, and Eye level provides a lower perspective for judging visual crowding. The editable 2D plan remains the best place for precise furniture positioning.
